Details
The French 20 franc gold coin Napoleon III was used as money in daily life. The coins were minted from 1853 to 1870 with a total circulation of more than 87 million coins. This is why they are being used for investment purposes even today.
The 20-franc Napoleon III. gold coin was produced with a fineness of 900/1000. The copper alloy chosen made the coin more durable and less prone to damages caused by daily use.
The obverse of the coin shows the half-portrait of Napoleon III. From 1861, he was depicted with a laurel wreath on his head. The reverse depicts the nominal value and the year of minting as well as the inscription “Empire Français”. Depending on the year of minting a laurel wreath or a shield and eagle are also shown.
