In the world of precious metals, South Africa is especially known for the Krugerrand.
The new "Big Five" coin series now shows the five big wild animals that every safari-goer would like to have seen once.
This new series is also the first gold bullion o ffering since the Krugerrand was introduced in 1967.
The first coin in the series, which will be released from 2022, is the elephant, followed by the lion, rhino, leopard and buffalo.
A new bullion coin for each motive will be introduced in five year cycles.
All individual coins have a purity of 999.9/1000, the mintage is not limited.
The series is issued by the South African Mint in collaboration with the Rand Refinery.
