The silver Maple Leaf coins were first introduced in 1988. Their design is a copy of the earlier gold version, depicting the profile of Queen Elizabeth II on the obverse and a Canadian Maple Leaf on the reverse. Only the year of issue changes accordingly.
In 2018 the Royal Canadian Mint issues a special edition of the silver coin to mark the 30th anniversary of the Maple Leaf.
Silver Maple Leaf coins in general are available in 1 oz size, as well as special editions weighing 1/4 oz, 1/2 oz, or 10 oz.
25 coins are shipped in a tube. Each tube is sealed with a security seal of the Royal Canadian Mint.
Besides, golden Maple Leaf coins have been available from 1979 and are produced in different sizes – 1 gramme, 1/25 oz, 1/20 oz, 1/10 oz, 1/4 oz, 1/2 oz, and 1 oz.
