The platinum Maple Leaf was released in 1988. The design corresponds to that of other Maple Leaf coins, remaining the same each year and showing on the obverse the profile of Queen Elizabeth II and the Canadian Maple Leaf on the reverse. Only the year of issue changes accordingly.
Platinum Maple Leaf coins were oly produced from 1988 to 2002 as 1/10 oz coin, also 1/4 oz and 1/2 oz coins are not available from other years.
From 1993 to 2002 even 1/20 oz coins were produced. Since 2009, platinum Maple Leaf coins are only available as 1 oz coins.
