Since 2016, the Perth Mint is also producing silver Kangaroos.
The obverse shows a portrait of Queen Elizabeth II, as do the Gold Nuggets. The reverse depicts a „Red Kangaroo“, which was first featured on the 1990 coin and is still used for the 1kg coin of the series. The kangaroo is set against a background of sun rays.
With the market launch an additional optical safety feature was introduced. Using microlaser technique an „A“, only visible under magnifying glasses is engraved.
Being a classic bullion coin, the silver Kangaroo is only produced as 1 oz coin.
25 coins are shipped in a tube. Each tube is sealed with a security seal of the Perth Mint.
Besides, Gold Nuggets have been available from 1986 and are produced in different seizes - 1/20 oz, 1/10 oz, 1/4 oz, 1/2 oz, 1 oz, 2 oz, 10 oz, and 1 kg.
