From 2020 onwards, the Perth Mint issues the Lunar Series III, follow-up of the popular Lunar Series II depicting animals of the 12-year cycle of the Chinese zodiac.
Coins from the Lunar Series are legal tender in Australia and are made of 999.0/1000 pure silver.
In 2025, the sixth animal of the third cycle is celebrated. Hence, the coins feature the Year of the Snake design. The reverse of each coin depicts a snake coiling in natural surroundings, framed by branches and leaves. The obverse features a portrait of King Charles III.
Besides proof like coins, there are further series for collectors ranging from proof coins to gilded and coloured editions as well as versions with various privy marks.
All Lunar Series III silver coins are available in sizes of 1/2 oz, 1 oz, 2 oz, 5 oz, 1 kg, and 10 kg.
Besides, gold coins are available in sizes of 1/20 oz, 1/10 oz, 1/4 oz, 1/2 oz, 1 oz, 2 oz, and 10 oz.
