Details
From 1983 to 1989, the Pobjoy Mint produced platinum Noble coins for the Isle of Man; minting was continued irregularly until 1997.
The Isle of Man Noble was the first bullion coin made of platinum and has a fineness of 999.5/1000.
The reverse of each coin depicts a viking ship. The obverse features a portrait of Queen Elizabeth II.
In 1983, only 1 oz coins were produced. 1984 coins of 1/10 oz were added and from 1986, 1/4 oz and 1/2 oz coins were produced. In 1989 even 1/20 oz coins were minted.
