The Belgian 20 franc gold coin Louis II. was used as money in daily life. The coins were minted from 1867 to 1882 with a total circulation of several million coins. This is why they are being used for investment purposes even today.
The 20-franc Louis II. gold coin was produced with a fineness of 900/1000. The copper alloy chosen made the coin more durable and less prone to damages caused by daily use.
The obverse of the coin shows a portrait of King Louis II. The reverse depicts the crowned arms of Belgium and the nominal value. The inscription reads “L'union fait la force”.
