Details
The St Gaudens Double Eagle gold coin was minted from 1907 to 1933 and used as a circulating gold coin.
The coin takes its name from the sculptor Augustus Saint-Gaudens, who designed the coin's image.
The obverse of the coin shows the goddess of liberty, ‘Lady Liberty’, with a torch in her right hand and holding an olive branch in her left.
The reverse depicts a flying bald eagle above a rising sun.
The coin was minted in large numbers until the American gold ban in 1933 and is still an attractive investment coin today.
